Harmony Felts
Harmony Felt's love of learning has spanned her entire life. She spent her childhood helping her mom set up her own classroom, playing school with her dolls, and teaching her younger brother on weekends and summers. It seemed natural to study education in college and move on to teaching actual students!
Her formal journey in education began by obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education at Arkansas Tech University. From there, Harmony taught for 5 years at Owl Creek School in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she worked with many students of diverse emotional needs and learning challenges, and experienced the process of setting up a classroom, building relationships with families, and empowering students to work hard despite external difficulties beyond their control. During that time she took intensive Master’s courses on English Language Learning through Arkansas Tech’s ESL Academy, and used what she learned to help her students of cultural diversity be successful in the classroom. She went on to be a stay-at-home mom who also began and ran the preschool ministry at Fellowship Fayetteville for one year; setting up curriculum, working with parents and students in their at-home discipleship resources, and mobilizing teachers to staff the program.
After her husband's job change and an unexpected move to Colorado, Harmony continued being a stay-at-home mom who also taught online English classes for 2.5 years to young students in China during the early morning hours, once again using her skills from ESL Academy. She taught 2nd grade in a Christian private school in Castle Rock for 3 wonderful years, before beginning her own homeschooling journey in 2024. During all of this, she has served as a teacher in her church’s kids’ ministry for the past 7 years. Harmony has learned so much about students and their learning styles throughout her career in education, and looks forward to putting that to good use at Castlewood Academy!
When she’s not teaching, homeschooling her two kids, or serving in ministry with her husband at their local church, Harmony enjoys reading a good book with a chai latte, walking or hiking with friends, attending concerts, and camping in the incredible Colorado outdoors! Harmony and her two children look forward to building community together at Castlewood Classical Academy this year. Her goal is to help students have a love for learning, and support parents as they homeschool!
